Join us in helping to maintain Maynard Pond through implementing attractive, sustainable and sensible low-maintenance strategies, with emphasis on native habitat, pond water management; and environmental stewardship.
Residents and members of the association gathered on a lovely Fall afternoon to hear the latest updates on our silt removal project, a long-range conservation plan, proposed name change, and an update to our bylaws. We look forward to sharing results and next steps with the Maynard Pond community.
Maynard Pond Volunteer Work Days are scheduled on these Saturdays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am to work on cleaning the landscape around the pond. Specific tasks include:
~ pruning and trimming around the shoreline and the three acres of adjoining land
~ dragging and assembling pruned waste into neat four foot bundles along the street for normal Cary town yard waste pickup
~ possibly some weed-eating and spraying for poison ivy
~ breaking down donated cardboard boxes and spreading mulch on top to create weed barriers around trees
! other needs to be determined
BYOT: Bring your own Tools. If you have loppers and small saws, please bring them. Wheelbarrows and rakes are always helpful. And wear gloves and goggles as appropriate. We appreciate your support in maintaining this special place.
